STYLE KARATE, FILIPINO ARTS and TAI-CHI SWORD.
Jon Alexander developed
the Zen - Shin - Do - Kenjutsu style of swordsmanship over a period of more than 40 years after his
disappointment with conventional styles of IAIDO. There are several clubs around the Country teaching this style
and they are reporting successful numbers and various wins at tournaments. Jon
has trained with many top ranking, world-class instructors including such
prominent martial artists as SENSEI OKIMITSU FUJII, such notables as the
late MASAFUMI SUZUKI and
ITO KUNIMITSU to name a few.
For TAI-CHI-CHUAN
students, certification is available up to Full Instructor Status.
The main TAI-CHI-CHUAN style we teach is the PEKING
24 STEP, the most popular TAI-CHI-CHUAN style in the world. Having learnt the PEKING 24 STEP FORM, it
acts almost as an A-B-C of the most popular TAI-CHI-CHUAN movements found in
most TAI-CHI styles and you will feel capable of learning almost any other form
throughout the TAI-CHI-CHUAN World.
The unique thing about theAlexander Tai-Chi Foundation is that we do not confuse
the practice of TAI-CHI-CHUAN with other esoteric transmissions. We teach only
genuine TAI-CHI-CHUAN without the usual, confusing issues that cloud the real
purposes of TAI-CHI-CHUAN i.e. the integration of the mind, body and spirit.
Having attained a proficiency in the PEKING STYLE 24
STEP FORM students will be entitled to certification of their achievements.
IN TAI-CHI-CHUAN, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART
OF LEARNING IS
THE JOURNEY, A NEVER-ENDING CONTINUING
PATH OF DISCOVERY.
TRAINING
CAN BE WEEKEND OR MIDWEEK AND FLEXIBLE TO SUIT YOUR NEED.
However, for most
Students on our Fast-Track Courses, the training begins on Saturday
and continues on Sunday.
Actual training time depends on the intensity of training, bearing in mind any
physical and sensory overload.
TRAINING IS
ON A ONE-TO -ONE OR SMALL GROUP BASIS.
You can train
with your own personal instructor or you can bring a group of students and
spread the cost between you.
Regarding
accommodation, local bed and breakfast establishments are between £50.00 and
£75.00 per person, per night in the high season. Or, you could make use of our
comfortable, fully equipped room with TV, DVD, Micro-Wave, Play station, with
open views to countryside and tree lined walks. Take a relaxing, long weekend
holiday by coming a day earlier to your Course and leaving a day later. Please
enquire about costs of in-house accommodation.
The accommodation is an
optional extra to enable students who are travelling long distances, to stay
over without incurring the expensive costs of local hotels or bed and
breakfast, which as you may appreciate, due to our location are expensive
in this area. However, if you should wish to
make your own accommodation arrangements please feel free to do so. We may be
able to help with local hotels and B and B’s. Adequate bedding is provided for
you but you may prefer to bring your own sheets, pillowcases, sleeping bags
etc. We find these arrangements suits students who wish to combine their
Martial Arts training with a short break. Why not bring a friend for company.
You may want to include in your free time a visit to THE EDEN PROJECT or the
many fine Surfing Beaches including the world famous FISTRAL BEACH, NEWQUAY.
Also, sightseeing and
visits to Mystic Places including TINTAGEL CASTLE AND KING ARTHUR’S REALM.
Sensei’s Theory on THE
HOLY GRAIL’S RESTING PLACE, DRUID’S SACRIFICE ROCK and LANDS END
to name a few.
For Artists there is THE
TATE OF THE WEST at St Ives, NEWLYN, home of the famous Newlyn School of
painting and many inspirational locations to capture on canvas.
BEACH-BUMS, the nearest
sunbathing and safe swimming beach is only 1 mile away!
The Historic Port of
CHARLESTOWN, the home of ‘Square Sails’ Film casting and sets of numerous TV
and Film productions, MEVAGISSEY, a picturesque, still working, fishing harbour
and Rick Stein’s PADSTOW, if you want to sample the fish! are all within easy
reach.
For BEETLE-BUMS and V.W.
Enthusiasts come Whitsun weekend and ‘RUN TO THE SUN’.
Local shops are
close by.
Or, you may just want to
have a peaceful, relaxing, solitary experience. There are the facilities to watch
training and practice videos and DVDs at your leisure. There is also a
selection of entertainment Videos and DVDs, inspirational tapes and CD’s all to
help you relax.

Ø 2 STUDENTS £690.00 (A SAVING OF £100.00)

GRADINGS AND
CERTIFICATION COSTS ARE ALL INCLUDED IN THE ABOVE PRICE, except double gradings

YOU MAY WISH
TO CHOOSE A WEEKDAY COURSE. If
weekdays suit you circumstances better you may arrange a weekday course. Whilst
here you may be invited by Sensei to attend the local club sessions, if it is
applicable to your chosen martial art.
FOR KATANA
STUDENTS, A FREE BOKKEN
is provided and we can provide you with a Training Sword if you do not have one
or wish to bring your own. If you are considering buying a Sword please ask
Sensei’s advice before you do so as there are many Swords available which are
totally unsuitable for Swordsmanship Training.
PLEASE NOTE. IT IS A REQUIREMENT THAT YOU UNDERTAKE 2 DAYS TRAINING IN ONE
SKILL TO ATTAIN FULL QUALIFICATION IN THAT SKILL.
However, you can undertake 2 subjects if you wish i.e. Day 1 KATANA and Day 2 TAI CHI.
In this case, Grades
awarded will depend on your progress and ability. It is unlikely, except in
exceptional circumstances, that you will achieve full qualification in both
subjects, in 2 days.
3 AND 4-DAY
COURSES ARE AVAILABLE. Please
contact us for the cost of additional days.
IN ADDITION to the
above we offer
Short, intensive lessons in
KYUDO (Japanese Archery) and/or KOBUDO.
Taking, for example,
KATANA, KYUDO and if you practice a weapon at present, this can be added to
make the 3 weapons required for a KOBUDO
grading. If you do not have a preferred weapon we could introduce you to the
basics of BOJU (long
stick) SAI (double prong fork) or KOBUTAN (hand held, short stick-self defence).
These Courses involve separate certification and therefore involves additional
costs. Please contact us for the additional Course costs
On satisfactory completion of your training you
could be offered the opportunity to join the
KAI. All KENJUTSU KAI members will be
given the unique KAI Membership
Patch.
A detailed training DVD
showing KENJUTSU KATA 1-4 is available at a cost of £15.00 inc. postage.
(these are the compulsory KATAS required for
5th KYU YELLOW BELT through to 1st
KYU BROWN BELT).
A free copy will be sent to you on receipt of your
deposit.
FOR TAI-CHI-CHUAN STUDENTS there is a 3 HOUR VIDEO
showing
TAI-CHI-CHUAN PEKING STYLE 24 STEP, also included is tuition demonstrations of
42 STEP and other TAI- CHI-CHUAN Forms.

SUBJECT TO YOUR SATISFACTORY PROGRESS you may
be eligible to return the same year for further grading consideration.
A DEPOSIT of
£100.00p per student is payable when you
