made a very pleasant surprise visit to
Shihan Jon Alexander’s Hombu-Dojo recently.
Sensei Jamie brought his student to be graded by Shihan Jon.

Shihan Jon remarked that he had never seen such an
amazing display of self-defence and tactical skills.
Charlie was awarded his
3rd Dan in NAMI-RYU

and
we are pleased to record
Jamie Fujii-Hull-Greenwood’s
updated grades as

2nd Dan Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu (Iaido)
2nd Dan Zen Shin Kobudo Kai
3rd Dan Zen Shin Kenjutsu Kai
5th Dan Koryu Nami Do Yawara

Jamie says: “My Ushideshi Charlie Wightman getting 3rd Dan was great. Charlie has trained with me since he was 13 (he is now 20) so it was a real big deal for him to meet one of my most senior instructors.
Also, I achieved my 5th Dan, confirmed in Nami Do Yawara Ryu (Jujutsu) by Jon Sensei.
It would be nice for people to see solid links to ZSBK, I want people to know Im back on the scene, and that we come from you guys.
Charlie and I have been trained privately by Fujii Sensei in sword both Iaido and Kendo, and he has monitored our Yawara (Jujutsu) alot.
We have fought over 50 other school instructors including the British Teakwondo champion in private and public competitions on Musa Shugyo (warrior pilgrimage) and not once did we lose”.

After a very pleasant stay Jamie and Charlie
roared off
on their Five Blades back to Devon.

NEW LOCAL CLASSES

Sensei Dave Cooke 3^rd Dan

has now opened his own club at
Polkyth Leisure Centre, St Austell

The club is called
KORYUKAN KARATE JUTSU
KORYUKAN is used to mean
'a place where the old ways are practiced'
and they practice KATA with it's associated two-person practices.
ALSO

Friday evenings at Mount Charles CP School
they refer to this as a 'KATA study group' and Sensei Dave says
” these sessions are really an extension of their Polkyth activities
but with more focus on the fine tuning
(as those who come on Fridays tend to be the more
dedicated students who want to learn the finer points
such as vital point striking, KANSETSU WAZA etc)”.
They would welcome any new students to either of these sessions.
